How can one describe a genius except to use that grossly over-used word - to say Kenneth Hari is truly a genius of our time? Creatively he knows no equal. The manner of his execution is always appropriate for his subject matter and, artistically, his work is eternally appealing to the eye, the heart and the soul. |
Sunday March 24, 1974 Kenneth Hari has been notified that Pope Paul VI will accept "with gratitude" the gift of his lithograph "Prophet." The original print will go into the Vatican's new collection of work by contemporary artists |

His drawings are rendered with such strength of character, such force, that upon seeing his work for the first time, and endless times afterwards, one simply cannot look away. To describe Hari's work as accurate is to do him an injustice, for his drawings and paintings both go beyond the realm of mere accuracy and into the realm of perfection. Kenneth Hari is undoubtedly an artist of the very highest caliber. |

Kenneth Hari was a child prodigy, apprenticed at an early age to such fine artists as Leon Franks and Donald DeLue. He went on to make his mark in the portrait field by painting from life sittings 17 portraits of the internationally famed cellist Pablo Casals, and then in rapid succession, poet W. H. Auden, painters Norman Rockwell and Thomas Hart Benton, the late poetress Marianne Moore and writer Irving Stone.
It is only in the very recent past that Hari added to his list of "famous folk" writer Gore Vidal, Italian surrealist Giorgio de Chirico, pianist Vladimir Askenazy, chef James Beard, Tony Award winning actor Hal Linden and the man who needs no introduction, Salvador Dali. |
