The "only major painting" of the late Paul Robeson was unveiled at the Newark campus of Rutgers University. The four by eight-foot full portrait of Robeson, a modern-day Renaissance man, is the work of Perth Amboy artist Kenneth Hari. It hangs in the Robeson Memorial Room of the campus' Paul Robeson Center. Hari has portrayed many world celebrities in the fields of music, theater, art and literature. He generally paints from life, and does extensive research when called to render a posthumous likeness of a person. | |
